HP PSC 1401 ALL IN ONE
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP PSC 1401 All-in-One unit. My cartridge numbers are 21 (black) and 22 (color). A few weeks ago, the black cartridge ran out and I had an extra replacement already. I installed the cartridge only to receive a error message of "check print cartridge. Again, it was brand new. I did not see anything wrong with it. I  purchased another replacement cartridge only to have the same thing happen again. I've done all of the suggested troubleshooting with no luck. Any suggestions?

@GEIGERTWINS, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Try inserting the old black ink cartridge and check if the error persists.

Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - HP Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge

Make sure the plastic tape if any is removed from the new ink cartridge before placing it in the printer.

If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the replacement options.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

If you are getting the same error for all the black ink cartridges, it could be a hardware issue with the printer. If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Like I stated in my original post, I've tried EVERYTHING. Yes, when I put the old cartridge in, the error goes away but that does me no good since the old cartridge is EMPTY.

@GEIGERTWINS

In that case, you will have to contact the HP technical support team for a replacement ink cartridge as mentioned in my previous post.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
