Operating System: macOS 10.14 Mojave

I have continued to get cartridge error instructing me to remove and replace both of my cartridges. Did so many times over. Also reset printer with and without cartridges. Have cleaned cartridge contacts.    By spending the better part of a day going in circles on the HP website, at one point efforts to troubleshoot ended up with the suggestion to actually change cartridges. Well, when I attempted to do that with Instant Ink, I received new error notice indicating that I couldn't do that while the printer was in error status. It is very strange that at one point both cartridges were working fine, then they weren't. 

 

?Any suggestions before I haul the printer to the recycler? I've cancelled my II subscription and will never purchase another HP product. I've installed a new Epson printer which has been far less troublesome.
