Hi I currently moved from Canada to the Netherlands and had to purchase a new ink cartridge. I purchased the 950XL on Amazon (HP original) however I'm getting the following error (see below). I've already used the setup page to change the region to Netherlands but the issue remains. I specifically bought the HP set of cartridges to avoid issues however it isn't working. Am I out of money?

HI @Vlast,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to encounter issues with your HP 950XL cartridge after moving to a new region. The error "Cartridge not intended for current device" usually indicates that the cartridge is not recognized by your printer, which can happen due to regional differences or compatibility issues. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:
1. Verify Cartridge Compatibility
Check Printer Model and Cartridge Compatibility:
- Ensure that the HP 950XL cartridge is compatible with your specific printer model. The HP 950XL cartridges are typically used with HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 series and similar models. Verify compatibility on the HP website or your printer’s manual.
Confirm Regional Compatibility:
- HP cartridges are sometimes region-specific, and cartridges purchased in one region may not be recognized by printers in another region, even if they are original HP cartridges.
2. Update Printer Settings
Change Region Settings:
- You mentioned you’ve already changed the region to the Netherlands, but ensure this was done correctly. Sometimes, reapplying the settings or restarting the printer can help.
Reset Printer Settings:
- Perform a factory reset on your printer to ensure that all settings are correctly applied. Follow the instructions in your printer’s manual for performing a factory reset.
3. Reinstall Cartridges
Turn Off the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
Open the Cartridge Access Door:
- Remove the cartridge and inspect it for any protective tape or packaging that may have been missed.
Reinstall the Cartridge:
- Reinstall the cartridge, ensuring it is properly seated.
Close the Access Door and Power On:
- Close the cartridge access door and power on the printer. Check if the error persists.
4. Clean the Cartridge and Printer Contacts
Turn Off the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
Remove the Cartridge:
- Remove the cartridge and gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Reinstall the Cartridge:
- Reinstall the cartridge and power the printer back on.
5. Test with a Different Cartridge
If you have access to another compatible cartridge, try using it to determine if the issue is with the cartridge itself or with the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
