Thanks for sharing the details. Since your HP DeskJet 2821e is brand new and came with cartridges that are being reported as “not compatible”, here’s what’s likely going on and how to fix it:
1. Check Cartridge Packaging
- Make sure the cartridges are HP 305 or HP 305XL (the correct type for DeskJet 2821e).
- If they are labeled “Instant Ink Ready”, they must be used with an HP+ account.
2. Clean and Reinsert Cartridges
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the cartridges.
- Gently clean the gold contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth.
- Reinsert the cartridges firmly.
- Plug in and restart the printer.
3. Reset the Printer
- Unplug the printer while it’s on.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and power it on.
- Try reinstalling the cartridges.
4. Try a Firmware Update
- In the HP Smart app, go to Settings > Printer Update.
- Install any available updates.
