Hi @Jo0528

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're encountering issues with your HP printer not printing cyan or magenta even after replacing the cartridges. These types of issues can occur for several reasons, including issues with the printhead, ink cartridge contacts, or settings. Here's a comprehensive troubleshooting guide to help resolve the issue:

1. Check the Ink Cartridge Installation

  • Remove the ink cartridge: Ensure that both the cyan and magenta cartridges are seated properly in their respective slots.
  • Check for protective tape: When you replace a new cartridge, ensure you remove any protective tape or plastic seal from the new cartridge that could prevent ink flow.
  • Reinstall the cartridges: After confirming everything is installed correctly, reinstall both cartridges and check if the printer recognizes them properly.

2. Clean the Printhead

Often, the issue could be due to clogged printhead nozzles. Even though the cartridge is new, the ink might not be flowing if the nozzles are blocked:

  • Most HP printers have a built-in option to clean the printhead. You can do this from the printer's control panel or using the HP Smart app.
  • On the printer: Navigate to Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead.
  • Through HP Smart: Open the app, go to your printer settings, and select the Clean Printhead option.
  • Perform the cleaning cycle and check the results. If necessary, repeat the cleaning process.

3. Run a Printhead Alignment

Misalignment can cause color printing issues. If the printhead isn’t aligned properly, it might not print certain colors:

  • Go to Setup > Tools > Align Printhead on your printer’s control panel.
  • Follow the instructions to align the printhead. After completing the process, print a test page to check the results.

4. Check the Ink Cartridge Contacts

Dirty or damaged cartridge contacts could prevent the printer from recognizing the cartridge:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the printer and carefully remove the cyan and magenta cartridges.
  • Use a clean, dry lint-free cloth to gently wipe the contacts inside the cartridge compartment and on the cartridges themselves. Be careful not to damage the contacts.
  • Reinstall the cartridges and try printing again.

5. Check for Firmware Updates

Outdated firmware can sometimes cause printing issues, especially with recognizing ink cartridges:

  • Go to the HP support website and check for any available firmware updates for your printer model.
  • Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
