HP OfficeJet Pro 8740. 2 dayd back we replaced the cyan and magenta cartridges. Today, noticed that the magenta cartridge has leaked all over. Have removed all the cartridges. Now I need to remove & clean the cartridge holder. How to do that? Pls share videos if possible.

Hi @SJha1

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

A leaking magenta cartridge can be messy, but you can clean the cartridge holder with these steps:

How to Clean the Cartridge Holder

Turn Off the Printer

  • Unplug the printer and let it sit for a few minutes to avoid electrical issues.

Remove Excess Ink

  • Use a lint-free cloth or paper towel to wipe away visible ink spills inside the cartridge holder.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts

  • Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water (avoid tap water).
  • Gently wipe the electrical contacts inside the printer and on the cartridge.

Deep Clean the Holder

  • If ink has pooled inside, use cotton swabs dipped in distilled water to clean hard-to-reach areas.
  • Let everything dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.

Run a Printhead Cleaning Cycle

  • Once the printer is back on, run a printhead cleaning from the printer’s settings.

Hi, pls share video re print head cleaning. Thanks

I removed and cleaned the cartridge holder with soft cloth/ear buds, let it dry and replaced it with new cartridges. Now it says there's a Supply System Problem!

It also says Alignment is Not Finished and gets stuck when Aligning Printhead. Don't know what to do now.
