Microsoft Windows 11

For a few days the printer would print only black but just as we decided to replace it colour started to reappear.  But since then on the test sheet magenta is showing as a muddy dark pink, yellow is brown, blue is ok just a bit faint.

When printing documents red is coming out as a dense dark brown.

We've followed all the online procedures -cleaned printheads, tried a new cartridge etc but still no joy.

@Themasie,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Community! 🎉

I’m here to help you troubleshoot your issue and get things back on track. Just follow these steps below, and we’ll have you running smoothly in no time:

  • Run a printhead alignment through your printer settings to correct any alignment issues (or use HP Smart app).
  • Perform a deep cleaning cycle for the printheads, following your printer's maintenance instructions.
  • Check the printhead nozzles for clogs or damage that might affect ink flow.
  • Inspect the printer for any internal blockages or ink residue buildup.
  • Perform a color calibration to ensure colors print correctly.
  • Reset the printer to its factory settings and try printing again.
  • Test with different document types to rule out any software-related issues.
  • Check printer firmware for updates and install it from HP Support website.

You can also install HP Print and Scan Doctor.

I’m pretty confident this will do the trick! But hey, if you run into any bumps along the way or need a little extra help, just give me a shout! I’ve got your back. 💪
