I installed the K black ink cartridge that did not seat properly. Now, the glass won't open so I can remove and replace the cartridge.
I have even unplugged the printer to no avail. Can anyone tell me how to unlock the glass to get to the cartridges?

Hi @john_sheppard,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the glass of your printer is stuck due to a misaligned or defective cartridge, here are some steps you can try to unlock it and remove the cartridge:
1. Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 5-10 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes this can reset the mechanism.
2. Manually Release the Printer Head:
- Some printers have a lever or button that can release the printer head. Check your user manual for specific instructions on how to access this feature.
3. Gently Wiggle the Carriage:
- With the printer powered on, gently try to move the print head back and forth. This may help free it from a stuck position.
4. Open the Access Door Carefully:
- If the glass won't open due to the cartridge being in the way, try to gently pry open the cover or access door without forcing it. Look for any locking mechanisms or clips that may be preventing it from opening.
5. Remove the Cartridge Manually:
- If you can get the access door open but the cartridge is still stuck, try to gently pull it out. Use a pair of tweezers if necessary to avoid using too much force.
6. Check for Obstructions:
- Ensure there are no other obstructions in the cartridge area that might be causing the issue. Look for any small pieces of packaging or debris.
7. Consult the User Manual:
- Check the user manual for any specific instructions regarding cartridge removal or troubleshooting stuck print heads.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
