I purchased a 62xl black cartridge for Walmart. After inserting the cartridge in my printer I kept getting a message to remove and reinstall the cartridge. I did this several times and received the same message. If I reinsert the old cartridge everything is fine. So, it is not the printer it is the cartridge. I did the hard restart found on the HP website and still have the same issue. Walmart says it is their policy not to replace a printer cartridge that has been opened. I have to get a replacement from the manufacturer. So far I cannot find any procedure on the HP website to do this. I would like to get this $54 cartridge replaced. I will never buy another cartridge from Walmart again.

Hi @Mark6701
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to be stuck with a defective cartridge, especially when you’ve already followed the troubleshooting steps. Here’s what you can do to resolve the issue:
Steps to Replace the Defective HP 62XL Cartridge:
Check HP Warranty: HP cartridges are often covered by a limited warranty that includes a replacement for defective products. To check if your cartridge is still under warranty, you can visit the official HP website.
If the cartridges are still under warranty, You can get it replaced.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for the reply. The cartridge is in warranty. I need to know HOW to get it replaced. Is there a number to call?, an email address?, a form to fill out?. I can’t find anything on the web site that tells you what to do.
thank you.
