Hi @FOSLoveG522,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Deskjet 2700 printer is not accepting independently purchased HP cartridges, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

  • Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridges you have purchased are compatible with your specific HP Deskjet 2700 printer model. HP printers often have specific cartridge requirements, and using cartridges that are not compatible can result in errors.
  • Inspect Cartridges: Check the cartridges for any protective tape or packaging that may need to be removed before installation. Also, inspect the cartridges for any visible damage.
  • Clean Contacts: Sometimes, the cartridge contacts and the contacts in the printer can get dirty or covered with ink. Gently clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab dampened with distilled water. Be sure to turn off the printer and unplug it before doing this.
  • Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute or two, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve cartridge recognition issues.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, firmware updates include bug fixes that can help with cartridge recognition.
  • Reset the Printer: Resetting the printer to its default settings can sometimes resolve cartridge recognition problems. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
  • Genuine HP Cartridges: While it's possible to use compatible or remanufactured cartridges with HP printers, it's always recommended to use genuine HP cartridges to avoid compatibility and warranty issues. HP can sometimes push firmware updates that make it more difficult for non-genuine cartridges to work.

Please note that using non-HP cartridges might void your printer's warranty, so be aware of that if your printer is still under warranty.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
