Display shows:

Tried the mentioned solutions, put the printer off and on and so on, but effortless.
What shall I do next?

Hi @Minimini1,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the HP Officejet Pro 8610 displays an error message indicating a "Problem with the printer or ink system," and basic troubleshooting steps like power cycling the printer haven't resolved the issue, you can try the following steps:
1. Check for Any Blockages or Obstructions
- Open the printer cover and check for any paper jams or foreign objects.
- Remove any paper or debris you find.
2. Reseat the Ink Cartridges
- Turn the printer on and open the ink cartridge access door.
- Wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
- Press the tab on the front of each ink cartridge to release it, and then remove it from the slot.
- Inspect the cartridges for any protective tape that might not have been removed. If there is any, remove it.
- Reinsert the ink cartridges into their respective slots and press down until they click into place.
3. Clean the Ink Cartridge Contacts
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
- Remove the ink cartridges as described above.
- Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
- Allow the contacts to dry for about 10 minutes before reinserting the cartridges.
4. Update the Printer Firmware
- Ensure your printer is connected to the internet.
- Go to the HP Support website and download the latest firmware update for the HP Officejet Pro 8610.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware. Update the firmware on an HP printer
5. Reset the Printer
- Turn on the printer and open the printer cover.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and the back of the printer.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error message has cleared.
6. Replace the Ink Cartridges
- Sometimes faulty or low-quality ink cartridges can cause issues.
- Try replacing the ink cartridges with genuine HP cartridges.
7. Perform a Printer Reset
- Partial Reset: This reset will not delete any saved settings.
- Unplug the power cord while the printer is on.
- Press and hold the printer's power button for about 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.
- Full Reset: This may reset all settings to factory defaults.
- Follow the instructions specific to your printer model from the HP Support website.

Thank you Gaya, for your help.
First, I got a new ink cartridge (not HP but in the past always working) and tried it once more, but again effortlessly.
I am now at point 4 looking for a new printer firmware. There is a notice that I can get a new firmware for not HP ink users to remove the security lock . And if I am clicking on this button I get the answer: This site ist not found and I should try to go on support home or try the diagnoses solutions.
I tried both, but both aren't helpful for me.
Do you know, what the next step would be? Go on with point 5?

Hi @Minimini1,
Thank you for your reply
You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.
There are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.
click here and please check HP Printers - Dynamic Security enabled printers
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
