Product: HP M255dw
Operating System: macOS 10.14 Mojave

I have small spots appearing on the right side of the paper. I have used the cleaning utility. This did not help. I have wiped the black toner cartridge in the area of the dots but this did not help. Any more ideas?

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you make any changes to your printer? 
  • Have you tried updating the printer firmware?
  • Are you using HP Smart App?

I tried downloading and installing the latest firmware.

It will not install because Apple has not verified its authenticity

“HP Firmware Updater” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software

if the dots are evenly spaced, measure the distance between them and post it. Most common causes are a bad toner or a bad fuser.

They are an inch apart on the right hand side. They are black - 2 dots together

1 inch apart is likely a problem with the toner cartridge.
