Duplex Print quality - Poor on second side only

HP Recommended
OfficeJet 7200
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

If I print 2 separate pages they are fine, yet if I print duplex the second side is streaked, tried new cartridges,  "clean print cartridge" several times, changed the quality to best, nothing seems to improve it.  Sad as duplex saves a lot of paper.

This printer model is showing as retired.

I  did find the user manual - it is dated 2004

The User Guide found here:

It is possible the printer is "just old".

If you can do so, opening the printer and cleaning the rollers with a lint-free cloth (for example, a coffee filter) dampened with clean (distilled?) water might help.

The user guide suggests on Page 165 that you clean the cartridges.

That said, if you cannot resolve the issue, it might be time to consider an upgrade / replacement.

It happens - even workhorses like this printer eventually wear out.
