Hi @DB495,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Verify Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges compatible with the ENVY 4500 model.
  • Check the packaging or HP's official site for compatibility confirmation.

Reinstall Cartridges:

  • Turn off the printer and reinstall the cartridges. Make sure they click into place properly in their respective slots.
  • Ensure the protective tape has been removed from the new cartridge contacts.

Software Update:

  • Update the printer’s software and drivers to the latest version. Visit the HP Support Website to download updates.

Hard Reset the Printer:

  • Disconnect the printer power cord while the printer is on.
  • Unplug any connected cables, including USB or Ethernet cables for at least 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the printer to power and turn it on.

Use the Single Cartridge Mode:

  • If one cartridge is defective or incorrect, remove it and use the printer with just one cartridge. The printer should operate in single-cartridge mode.

Try a Different Cartridge:

  • If possible, try a different cartridge to ensure the issue is not with a specific cartridge.

I hope this helps.
