Hello,

I have a customer with this printer, he filled with a generic ink and now the printer prints blurry.

Should I drain all the generic ink and fill with original ink?

Regards

Henry

@ZonaInformatica, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check Ink Levels

  • Make sure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and are not low on ink.
  • If any cartridge is low, replace it with either original or compatible ink that is of good quality.

Run a Cleaning Cycle

  • Go to your printer's settings and initiate the printhead cleaning process.

Print a Test Page

  • After cleaning the printheads, print a test page to check for any improvement.
  • If the test page is still blurry, run additional cleaning cycles or move to the next steps.

Check for Clogged Nozzles

  • If the ink from the generic cartridges is not flowing properly, the printhead nozzles may be clogged.
  • Use the printer's software to check the nozzle status and clean them if necessary.

Align the Printhead

  • Most printers will allow you to run a printhead alignment from their settings or software. This is crucial if the print quality seems off even after the cleaning cycle.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to align the printhead correctly.

Check the Paper Type

  • Ensure that the paper you are using is appropriate for the type of printing you're doing (e.g., regular paper vs. photo paper). Incorrect paper can contribute to poor print quality.

Check Printer Settings

  • Double-check the print settings for the specific document you're printing. Sometimes the resolution or quality settings can be too low, which can result in blurry prints.
  • Try printing in high-quality mode if available.

Consider Replacing the Ink with Original Ink

  • If the issue persists after the above steps and the generic ink might be incompatible with the printer, you may want to drain the generic ink and refill it with original ink.
  • Before replacing the ink, perform a deep cleaning process to clear the nozzles of any dried or clogged ink.

Printer Firmware Update

  • In some cases, a firmware update might help resolve issues with ink quality and compatibility. Check if there are any firmware updates available for the printer model.

Check for External Factors

  • Ensure that the environment is free of excessive humidity or temperature extremes, which can affect the ink and paper.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
