Envy 4500 - Problems with genuine HP301 black cartridge

HP Recommended
HP ENVY 4500
Other

OS = MacOS Big Sur (11.1) - this wasn't a dropdown option.

I purchased an HP301 black cartridge. It was initially recognised as a genuine HP product but after failing to print the test page, errored as an incompatible cartridge. No amount of turning off & on, unplugging and wiping the contacts made a difference. It was returned to the store and swapped for another cartridge.

The second cartridge, when installed, initially errored as too old for my printer. After turning the printer off & on, it now errors as being a problem with the cartridge. Again, turning off & on, wiping contacts etc are not making any difference.

Any help is appreciated. It's frustrating that expensive, genuine HP products are not working with an HP printer.

Thanks for the suggestion @Betty0610, I tried to update the firmware for my printer and there was no update available.

We'll have to perform a reset on the Printer for this. I have sent you a private message, for more details that cannot be shared in a public post.

Please do check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.
