@michaelm101, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Envy 4500 print issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like your HP Envy 4500 is experiencing a color-related printing issue, which could be due to a clogged printhead, incorrect cartridge installation, or software-related problems. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve it:
Perform a Printhead Cleaning
Your printer might have a clogged printhead, which can cause it to print only certain colors. Follow these steps:
- On the printer control panel, go to Setup → Tools → Clean Printhead.
- Run the cleaning cycle and print a test page.
- You might need to run this multiple times for better results.
Check and Reseat the Cartridges
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the cartridge door and carefully remove both the black and color cartridges.
- Reinsert them firmly and close the cartridge door.
- Turn the printer back on and print a test page.
Align the Printer
- Go to Setup → Tools → Align Printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and print the alignment page.
Print a Nozzle Check Pattern
- This will help you determine if all colors are being printed correctly.
- Go to Setup → Tools → Print Diagnostic Page.
- If you see missing colors, it indicates a blockage in the printhead.
Try a Different Document or Software
- Print a test document using a different application (e.g., Notepad, Word).
- Try printing a color image to see if all colors appear correctly.
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from power.
- Wait for 5 minutes, then plug it back in and restart.
Check Ink Levels and Replace Cartridges if Necessary
Even if the printer shows good ink levels, the cartridge may be faulty. Try replacing the black cartridge first, as text printing relies on it.
If none of these steps work, the issue may be with the printhead itself, which may require servicing or replacement.
Let me know if you need further assistance! 😊
Take care, and have an amazing day!
