Product: Envy 5032 printer

My 85 year old mother bought this printer and didn't tell me it had stopped working. I only found out once the warranty expired! The issue is that the black ink doesn't print - colour is fine and I can connect to my PCs no problem. I tried head cleaning etc and a new cartridge but no go. Any suggestions on what to try now? Paying someone to fix it is uneconomic as it was a £90 printer.
