Our printer used to print colour - no problem.

Now it won't and we don't have the option to select colour - let alone set as default.

Should I be worried the iMac OS is Sequoia 15.1 not listed in the drop down above?

Hi @Melbourne_Robin,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with your HP Envy 7900 printer not printing in colour on your iMac running macOS Sequoia 15.1. This is a known issue that can often be resolved with a few adjustments.

Steps to Restore Colour Printing

1. Remove and Re-add the Printer

Sometimes, the printer driver may default to monochrome. To ensure the correct settings:

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP Envy 7900 printer and click the minus (-) button to remove it.
  • Click the plus (+) button to add the printer again.
  • When adding, ensure that AirPrint is selected in the "Use" dropdown menu.

This process can help reset the printer settings and restore colour printing options.

2. Check Print Settings in Applications

When printing from an application:

  • Open the print dialogue.
  • Click on Show Details to expand the print options.
  • Look for a Color Options or Media & Quality section.
  • Ensure that Color is selected instead of Black & White.

If you don't see these options, it might be due to the printer driver settings.

3. Update Printer Firmware

Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date:

Updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues with newer macOS versions.

4. Use HP Smart App

The HP Smart app can help manage printer settings:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
