HP Recommended

Error Message: The indicated cartridge are not communicating with the printer.  Changed cartridge.  No change.  Unplugged printer. No change.  Used HP Print and Scan Doctor. No change.  Used HP Virtual Assistant and cleaned printer and cartridge as instructed. No change.  Even installed a spent cartridge.  No change in message.  I just need to know if I'm "screwed" and need a new printer.
