The "Print Cartridge Problem" error on your HP Officejet Pro 8625 while using macOS 10.12 Sierra could be due to various reasons, such as incorrect installation, dirty contacts, or defective cartridges. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and fix it:

 

Restart the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait 60 seconds and then plug it back in.
  3. Turn the printer on and check if the error persists.

Check the Cartridges

  1. Open the printer cover and remove all ink cartridges.
  2. Inspect them for any damage, leaks, or low ink levels.
  3. If they are empty or damaged, replace them with genuine HP cartridges.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Take a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  3. Gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and inside the cartridge slot.
  4. Let them dry for a few minutes, then reinstall the cartridges.
  5. Turn the printer back on and check if the error is resolved.

Reset the Printer

  1. With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the wall, then the printer.
  5. Turn the printer on and check for the error.

Update Printer Firmware

Since you are using an older macOS version (10.12 Sierra), ensure that your printer firmware is up to date:

  1. Go to HP Support.
  2. Search for HP Officejet Pro 8625 and download the latest firmware.
  3. Install it and restart the printer.

Use HP Smart or HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • If the issue persists, use HP Smart on macOS or HP Print and Scan Doctor on a Windows system to diagnose and fix cartridge-related problems.

Replace Faulty Cartridges

If none of the steps work, replace the affected cartridge(s) with genuine HP cartridges. Avoid third-party cartridges, as they may not be compatible.
