HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-in-One Printer - E710n

Error message 0x6101beb appeared.  Found on HP Forum that this is an ink cartridge problem. When I opened the printer to check the ink cartridges, the carrier does not stop in the middle of the machine so I can check the cartridges.  The carrier moves to the right and becomes inaccessbile.  Any advice?

It sounds like your HP Officejet 6500A Plus printer is experiencing a carriage jam or ink system failure related to the ink cartridges. Here’s what you can do to resolve it:

Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  4. Check if the carriage moves to the center when you open the ink access door.

Manually Move the Carriage

If the reset doesn’t work:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Open the printer’s ink cartridge access door.
  3. Gently move the carriage to the center manually (if possible).
  4. If it resists movement, do not force it. There may be an obstruction.

Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

  1. Look inside the printer for small paper pieces or foreign objects.
  2. Use a flashlight to inspect the carriage path.
  3. If you find anything, remove it carefully.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts

  1. Remove the cartridges if you can access them.
  2. Use a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water to clean the gold-colored contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer.
  3. Allow them to dry for a few minutes before reinserting.

Update Firmware

  1. Visit the HP Support page.
  2. Enter your printer model and download any available firmware updates.
  3. Install the update following HP’s instructions.

Perform a Hard Reset

If the issue persists:

  1. With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord directly from the printer.
  2. Unplug it from the wall outlet as well.
  3. Wait 2-3 minutes.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet, then into the printer.
  5. Turn it on and check if the issue is resolved.

Let me know if you need further help!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
