Hi @iHigh_Virt-Acad,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Officejet 8620 printer. If you've already replaced the black ink cartridge and are still receiving the same error message, there are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue.
- Check the Cartridge: First, ensure that the new black ink cartridge is correctly installed. Make sure it's securely seated in the cartridge slot and that you've removed any protective tape or cover that may be on the cartridge.
- Clean the Contacts: Sometimes, the electrical contacts on the cartridge or in the printer can get dirty or covered with ink residue, which can cause communication errors. Carefully remove the black ink cartridge and clean the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water. Allow them to dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.
- Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then, plug it back in and power it on. Sometimes, a simple reboot can clear error messages.
- Update Firmware/Driver: Ensure that your printer's firmware and driver software are up to date. Visit the HP website and search for your printer model to find the latest firmware and driver updates. Install them as needed.
- Perform a Hard Reset: A hard reset can often resolve persistent issues. To do this, unplug the printer from the power source and from the computer if it's connected via USB. Leave it unplugged for at least 10 minutes. Then, plug it back in and try again.
- Try a Different Cartridge: While you mentioned that you already replaced the black ink cartridge, it's possible that the replacement cartridge is also faulty. Try another new or known working black ink cartridge to see if the issue persists.
Remember to handle ink cartridges carefully to avoid damaging them or getting ink on your hands or clothing.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
