Error message ..."problem with printer or ink system".  I tried turning off, unplugged, plugged back in & turned printer back on, same error message.  One of the ink cartridges is stuck, it will not pop out then pressed.  Might that be the problem & how do i get it out?  Thx

Hi @BillC111,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the stuck ink cartridge could indeed be causing the "problem with printer or ink system" error message. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve the issue:

1. Turn Off and Unplug the Printer

  • Make sure the printer is turned off and unplugged before you start working on it.

2. Open the Printer

  • Open the printer’s front cover or cartridge access door to expose the ink cartridges. This is usually where the cartridges are located.

3. Gently Remove Any Obstructions

  • Check if there are any obstructions or paper jams that might be preventing the cartridge from moving. Clear any debris if you find any.

4. Manually Move the Carriage

  • Gently move the print carriage (the part that holds the ink cartridges) back and forth. Be careful not to use too much force. Sometimes, the carriage can get stuck, and moving it manually might help.

5. Remove the Stuck Cartridge

  • Try to carefully remove the stuck cartridge. If it’s not coming out easily, avoid using excessive force as it could damage the cartridge or the printer.
  • If you still can’t remove it, you may need to contact HP support for further assistance or check if there is a release lever or latch specific to your printer model that needs to be engaged.

6. Inspect the Cartridge and Slot

  • Check the cartridge for any visible damage or leaks. Also, inspect the cartridge slot inside the printer for any obstructions or damage.

7. Reinsert or Replace the Cartridge

  • If the cartridge is damaged, replace it with a new one. Make sure to use genuine HP cartridges for optimal performance.
  • If the cartridge is not damaged, reinsert it carefully and ensure it clicks into place.

8. Reconnect and Power On

  • Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and check if the error message persists.

9. Perform a Printer Reset

  • If the error message continues, try performing a hard reset of the printer. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

10. Consult the Manual

  • If the issue still isn’t resolved, consult the printer’s manual for specific troubleshooting steps
