Just recently on my M283fdw, every even-numbered page is backward and upside down and unreadable. It's about 1.5 years old. I have tried rebooting both PC and Printer. Also, duplex printing no longer works. Turning duplex on or off makes no difference.

Hi @Rich-88,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw is producing upside-down and backward pages, particularly every even-numbered page, it could be related to settings or firmware issues. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this problem:
Check Printer Settings:
- Printer Properties: Access the printer settings from your computer. First, go to "Control Panel" > "Devices and Printers" > Right-click on your HP M283fdw > Select "Printer Properties".
- Page Orientation: Ensure the page orientation is set correctly (Portrait or Landscape) in both the printer properties and the print settings dialog of the application from which you are printing.
- Duplex Settings: Check the duplex printing settings in the printer properties to ensure it’s properly configured (Edge binding or long edge binding).
Reset Printing Preferences:
- Open "Control Panel" > "Devices and Printers".
- Right-click on your HP printer and select "Printing Preferences".
- Reset all settings to default.
Update Printer Firmware:
Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.
Check Duplex Module:
- Ensure the duplex module is properly attached and not clogged with any paper debris. Sometimes incorrect installation or debris can cause printing issues.
Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Uninstall the current printer drivers.
- Visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers for your M283fdw (HP M283fdw Drivers).
- Install the new drivers and try printing again.
Test with Different Document:
- Try printing a variety of documents from different applications to ensure it's not a problem specific to one type of file or software.
I hope this helps.
