If the top and middle of the page in your HP Smart Tank Plus 651 Wireless All-In-One printer are experiencing faded color, there are several possible reasons and troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue.

 

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that you have sufficient ink levels in all the color cartridges. If any of them are running low or empty, replace them with new cartridges.

Clean the Printhead:

  • Faded colors can sometimes be caused by a clogged printhead. Most HP printers have a built-in printhead cleaning utility in the printer software. You can initiate a printhead cleaning cycle through the printer's control panel or by using the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.

Align the Printhead:

  • Perform a printhead alignment to ensure that the nozzles are properly aligned. This can improve print quality. Again, you can usually initiate this process through the printer's control panel or software.

Check Paper Quality:

  • The type and quality of paper you use can affect print quality. Ensure you are using the recommended paper type for your printer, and make sure it's not too old or damaged.

Adjust Print Settings:

  • Check your printer settings to ensure you have selected the correct print quality settings. Sometimes, reducing the print quality to "Draft" or "Economy" mode can save ink but may result in faded prints.

Update Printer Firmware/Software:

  • Make sure your printer's firmware and driver software are up-to-date. HP often releases updates that can improve print quality and address known issues.

Clean the Print Rollers:

  • Dust and debris on the printer's rollers can affect print quality. Carefully clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth or an alcohol swab.

Replace the Color Cartridge:

  • If cleaning and alignment do not improve the print quality, the color cartridge may be faulty. Try replacing the color cartridge with a new one.

Perform a Test Page:

  • Most printers have a test page function that can help diagnose and identify specific color calibration or alignment issues.
