HP 21 ink cartridge
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have bought another faulty ink cartridge as well.

Stores won't take them back once they are opened.

To mail the cartridge away is just as expensive as buying another cartridge.

I really need to print and am on a budget.  Guess I will take another chance on another cartridge from another store and skip dinner tonight.

I compared my old cartridge and new cartridge - there doesn't seem to be any copper in contacts on the new cartridge.  My old cartridge - the metal shines and I can see the connections.  The new cartridge - nothing.  It is like a black piece of tape.  HP is cheaping out!

HP's chat is useless.  Please let me talk to a real person!

@DMaki2140, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the new ink cartridge you bought is not working.

Make sure the ink cartridges are properly inserted in the printer, you may refer to - Replace HP inkjet printer cartridges

Note: Check for the plastic tape if any, is removed from the new ink cartridge before placing it in the printer.

Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - Ink cartridge error

If the error persists, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the replacement options.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Do you think I am stupid Kumar?

Of course I did all these things to start with.

I went out and bought a new cartridge - and guess what?

It worked perfectly fine.  Put the previous one back in - got the error message again.

I am sending you the cartridge and receipt for a full refund.

There is no technical support in my area for faulty cartridges.

Impossible to create a new case unless this is a business account - case requires a serial number - there are no serial numbers on ink cartridges.

No address on website to send the cartridge back for refund or replace.

Guess HP screwed me.

@DMaki2140

The serial number is of the printer and not the ink cartridges. Let me escalate this issue to the concerned team as you are not able to reach the Support team.

Please look for a private message from me requesting additional information. Keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
