Hi @RhinoTech2B,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 4650 ink cartridges are stuck and you're receiving an error, here are some steps you can follow to resolve the issue.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • This can sometimes clear minor software glitches.

Manually Check the Cartridges:

  • Open the printer's ink cartridge access door.
  • Check if the cartridges are properly seated in their respective slots. Gently press each cartridge to ensure it's locked in place.
  • If you notice any resistance, try to gently free the cartridge from the slot. Be careful not to apply too much force to avoid damaging the cartridge or printer.

Clean the Cartridges and Contacts:

  • Remove the cartridges and clean the metal contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or rubbing alcohol.
  • Dry the contacts completely before reinserting the cartridges.

Check for Obstructions:

  • While the cartridges are out, look for any visible debris or foreign objects in the cartridge area that could be blocking movement.

Reset the Printer:

  • Reset the printer to its default factory settings. You can usually do this through the printer's menu or by holding down the "Cancel" and "Wireless" buttons simultaneously for about 10 seconds.

Try Replacing the Cartridges:

  • If the issue persists, even with new cartridges, it's possible one of the cartridges might be faulty. Try replacing the ink cartridges with a different set of new ones.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
