HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 All-in-One Printer

I have a genuine black ink cartridge that I purchased a few years ago that is not recognized when I put it in the printer.  The message says "This cartridge is an older generation cartridge that does not work in your printer".  I bought this cartridge many months after I bought the printer.

More information:  I have seen other posts suggesting that you have to rollback the firmware to get these "outdated cartridges" to work.  I can only find non-HP websites that supply methods/downloads to do that.  I do not trust these other places as being legit and am nervous to try that.  I also found one post that said that they went back to HP and insisted that they replace the cartridge with the newer version and they did.  I would love to do that but can not find any way to contact HP directly about this.  They seem to run you in a million circles instead of just giving you a way to reach out directly to them with a question/complaint/concern.

Any ideas?  This is a ridiculous situation and if HP will not resolve it, I will never buy another HP printer.  If HP did this change on purpose...shame on them! If it was an unexpected consequence of other upgrades/improvements, it should be a simple process to correct it with the customer.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
