HP DeskJet 2755e All-in-One Printer

my 2755e will not print word documents properly. It does print pdfs as a default. Also, when it does print, the printing is very faint, not block or bold.

1)  "my 2755e will not print word documents properly"

"Properly" printed Word documents generally require that you have installed the full driver printer software for your supported Operating System / version.

Additionally, Word documents generally require Office Software that runs on the device (computer, tablet, phone).

For example, Word Office software is supported in many versions of Windows,.

The full driver printer software for this printer is available for at least a couple versions of Windows.

====================================

Printer Software

If you have not yet done so, install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software.

HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, printing in in other software and programs (for example, Word), and provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts.  The full driver generally adds at one, possibly least one, possibly two shortcuts to the Desktop: Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and/or HP Scan.

NOTES:

HP Scan is not installed if the printer does not support Scan.

The Printer Assistant is not installed if the type of full driver software does not support it.  If the printer model includes built-in Fax hardware, the software supports the setup and use of the Fax driver.

No Sign-in required to use full driver printer software.

Reinstalling?

  • Uninstall existing full driver printer software from Programs and Features.
  • If your printer includes a separate "help" in Programs and Features, uninstall that, too.
  • Restart the computer and log in.
  • If the printer is connected to the computer using a printer USB cable, remove / disconnect the cable before loading the software.

Operating systems:
  • Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)
  • Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
  • Microsoft Windows 11
  • Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)
  • Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

In general, the web pack should load -

Download package > Save > Right-Click on the installation Package > Run as Administrator

If / When asked, opt for the Full Driver / Full Software to be installed.

Using USB?  (Re)Connect when instructed to do so.

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

What else?

A subset to the success of Properly printed Word documents -- and any other printed content -- involves the margins that are supported by the printer.

What?

DeskJet printers -- including this model -- require a larger margin along the bottom edge of the printed page.

=====================================

Printing - Important -

The printer requires a larger margin along the bottom edge (1/2 inch).

Borderless PrintingNo
Print Margin Bottom (A4)12.7 mm
Print Margin Left (A4)3 mm
Print Margin Right (A4)3 mm
Print Margin Top (A4)3 mm

There is no software, firmware, or alignment that changes the larger margin requirement.

The solution to "chopped off" is to keep all data inside of 1/2 inch / 12.7mm on the bottom edge.

This limitation includes all text, images, page numbers, footer information, cells, tables, lines, other notations, and all file types, too.

Create your original document with 12.7mm ( 1/2 inch ) margins.

2) "It does print pdfs as a default."

True, many devices - computers, tablets, phones - can and will print PDF files using either an installed application or perhaps using an app or software that is part of the device's own Operating System.

This is normal behavior.

For example,

HP Smart - Windows and Mobile - supports printing PDF and Photo / Image files.

==========================================

3) "Also, when it does print, the printing is very faint, not block or bold. "

The poor result might be due to printing in Draft mode when the content is already using a thin or "light" type of font.

OR

Not printing -- or a lack of print quality - can be the result of the hardware (printer) not working as it ought.

Example - Adobe Reader - PDF Print - Main Menu

Check Properties > Tab Paper / Quality > Print Quality

PDF_Reader_Main_Menu_Border_7PDF_Reader_Main_Menu_Border_7

-------------------------------------

The more common cause of bad quality is, of course, hardware.
