Trying to put my toner cartridge back into my printer HP 3001DW and it won't go back.  Looks like this black plastic is stopping it.   What should I do?

@Sanb92, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP 3001-DW!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like there might be a protective plastic cover or an internal latch preventing the toner cartridge from being reinserted. Here’s what you can do:

Check for Packaging Material:

  • If this is a new toner cartridge, ensure you have removed all protective covers, seals, and plastic tabs.
  • Look for an orange plastic guard that may still be attached.

Inspect the Cartridge Slot:

  • Make sure there are no obstructions inside the toner slot.
  • Sometimes, a small piece of broken plastic or leftover material can block insertion.

Check Cartridge Alignment:

  • Ensure the toner is aligned correctly with the guides inside the printer.
  • Try inserting it gently but firmly, making sure it slides in straight.

Look for a Locking Mechanism:

  • Some HP printers have a latch that must be lifted or adjusted before inserting the cartridge.
  • Check if there's a lever or part that seems out of place and carefully adjust it.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it for a few minutes, then turn it back on.
  • Sometimes, restarting can reset internal components that may be misaligned.

If the problem persists, try comparing your old cartridge with the new one to see if there are any physical differences. Let me know if you need further guidance!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
