HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer

After installing a new 65XL cartridge, we are getting the error message: "The indicated cartridges are not communicating correctly with the printer."  We have followed the steps we could find on a previous post for the same error message with no luck.  Please provide instructions on how to get a refund for the faulty ink cartridge.

Here is copy of the instructions we found and have followed (all steps).  When inserting a second new cartridge, the printer works fine.  We have repeated these steps several times and the ink cartridge in question has always produced the error message.  If helpful, the expiration date on the cartridge is Feb 2025.

COPY OF PRIOR SUPPORT RESPONSE:

Hi peachkn,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It can be frustrating when cartridges are not communicating correctly with the printer. Here are steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the cartridges.
  • Clean the contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water. Ensure they are dry before reinserting the cartridges.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Wait for a few minutes to allow any residual power to dissipate.
  • Plug in the printer and turn it on.

Update Firmware:

  • Check for the latest firmware updates for your HP Envy Photo 7155 on the HP website. If there are updates available, install them following the manufacturer's instructions.

Reinstall Cartridges:

  • Remove all cartridges.
  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Wait for a few minutes.
  • Plug in the printer and turn it on.
  • Reinstall the cartridges and check if the issue persists.

Try Another Cartridge:

  • If you have access to another cartridge (even if it's not new), try inserting it into the printer. This can help determine whether the issue lies with the cartridges or the printer.
