HP 7740: Can't print in black when one of the OTHER cartridges is out of ink

HP 7740: Can't print in black when one of the OTHER cartridges is out of ink.  Error message is: cartridge depleted. I don't print in color, so don't need the other cartridges. So even thought I don't use color the machine won't let me print without it.  What's the OTHER solution?

Cannot Print When One HP Ink Cartridge is Empty

The printer is not designed to print with only black ink.

Solution:  Purchase / provide ink cartridges for both color and black ink.
