HP 8210 printer says older generation cartridges installed and won't print anything

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Put a new black (K) ink cart in a HP 8210 printer and now it says "cartridge for older generation of printer and it won't even print config pages. Cartridge is an HP 952XL. Printer itself recognizes and says that an HP 952XL cart is installed and says on the same screen that 952XL  carts are supported.

Hi @nathanwegner87,

 

I’d recommend you contact HP Phone Support in your region for replacement options.

 

Follow the instructions below to reach them:

 

1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device. 

4) Select the country from the drop-down. 

5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences. 

6)Fill the web-form and proceed further.

 

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

What do you mean replacement options? Replacement cartridges or a whole new printer? Replacing with another HP printer is a laughable suggestion.

 I was suggesting replacement options for the cartridges and not the printer.

I am having the same issue. Did you find a way to resolve the problem? I don't seem to be able to find any answers directly from HP.
