HP 8600Pro Plus
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an 8600 Pro Plus printer. I have just replaced the ink cartridges and the printer won't recognize the Yellow one. I thought it was the cartridge, so I bought an OEM HP cartridge and it doesn't work either. I get an error message that says the cartridge is damaged. The printer's screen displays the other cartridges by name, but nothing for the Yellow one. I assume it's a software problem, but  I can't find a fix for it. It's long out of warranty so no help there.

@TDCA, Welcome to HP Support Community!

If you have already performed the steps from the document HP Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Since the device is out of warranty, and we've concluded that this is a hardware malfunction, I may have a few pointers/suggestions to help you out, however, since these suggestions are limited to you and your printer alone, I'd like to send out a private message with those details.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
