Hi @Wynico ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer isn't recognizing the yellow ink cartridge and yellow color is missing on printouts, here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Cartridge Authenticity

  • Confirm the yellow cartridge is a genuine HP cartridge.
  • Check for signs of tampering or damage to the cartridge packaging.

2. Reinsert the Yellow Cartridge

  • Turn on the printer.
  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove the yellow cartridge and inspect it for damage (e.g., leaks, bent contacts, or residue).
  • Reinsert the cartridge securely, ensuring it clicks into place.

3. Clean the Cartridge and Printer Contacts

  • Power off the printer.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean:
    • The gold-colored contacts on the cartridge.
    • The corresponding contacts in the printer.
  • Let them dry for a few minutes, then reinsert the cartridge.

4. Perform Printer Reset

  • With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.
  • Check if the cartridge is recognized.

5. Align and Clean the Printhead

  • Use the printer's control panel or HP software on your computer to:
    • Perform a printhead alignment.
    • Run a printhead cleaning cycle (may need to do this multiple times to clear clogs).

6. Update Printer Firmware

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware:
    1. Download and install HP Easy Start for your printer.
    2. Follow the instructions to check and update the firmware.

7. Try Another Cartridge

  • If available, insert a different yellow cartridge to rule out cartridge defects.
  • If a different cartridge is recognized, the original cartridge is likely faulty.

8. Examine the Printhead

If the yellow ink still doesn't appear:

  • The issue might be with the printhead.
  • Run a printhead cleaning cycle via the printer menu or software.
  • If the problem persists, you may need to manually remove and clean the printhead (refer to your printer manual) or consider replacing it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
