Microsoft Windows 11

HP 9015 is only printing in black. We have checked every setting available, and we have even done a cold reset back to factory settings. Nothing fixed it. I have read forum posts in an attempt to find a solution. There are no error codes, error messages, the ink levels aren't low for the color ink cartridges, and I have sent it through the alignment, printhead test. Nothing is shedding any light on what the issue is. Please help!

Hi @AUChick,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Since you've already gone through all the right steps, like checking settings, ink levels, and even doing a factory reset. You’ve clearly done your homework, so let’s dig into what else could be going on with your HP Officejet Pro 9015 that’s refusing to print in colour despite being otherwise healthy.

1. Run the Embedded Web Server (EWS) Test Print

Let’s eliminate software issues by printing directly from the printer itself:

  • Find the IP address of the printer on the control panel.
  • Type that IP into a browser (on the same Wi-Fi network).
  • From the Embedded Web Server, go to Reports > Print Quality Report.

2. Force Colour Mode via Printer Properties

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
  • Right-click your printer > Printer Preferences
  • Make sure:
    • "Print in Grayscale" is unchecked
    • Colour settings are set to "Colour" or "Automatic"
    • Advanced settings > check that Colour Printing Mode is enabled

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for the suggestions.  Neither worked.  I think I'm throwing in the towel and admitting defeat. A new printer purchase is in my near future. I appreciate your taking the time to offer suggestions.
