I upgraded my firmware yesterday and when I came to print this morning was presented with this message: "Supply Problem".

I followed the printer information recommendations to no avail and then started searching the web.  Fortunately I quickly reached these pages:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Ink-Cartridges-Print-Quality/Supply-problem-after-firmware-upd...

They provide a solution that works, but also show that HP UNDENIABLY DID THIS ON PURPOSE to brick our after market toner cartridges and force everyone to use their insanely prices supplies.  They even went as far as to REMOVE the downgrade that fixes the issue from their website and to erase posts that point to it.  But through the links above you'll be able to restore your printer to full functionality again.  I recommend virus checking the download.  I did and found no issues and I also verfied that the downloads from two different sites were identical, so I felt comfortable running the firmware install to take me back to the June 2020 firmware that fixes the later "upgrade".  No problems observed and my printer works again.

It is now almost a year since this stunt was pulled and HP has not rectified the issue so they obviously think they can get away with it.  HP, this is NOT ok.  Before you arbitrarily take this post down, consider two things: 1) I own a number of HP products...I will NEVER EVER buy HP again after this and I suspect neither will anyone else who is affected and understands the unethical nature of what you have done, 2) checking in with your legal department because I am going to report this to my state consumer protection agency.  I'm fairly sure that HP does NOT have the right to dictate what supplies we use in our printers or to render supplies that we have purchased unusable.
