A couple months ago, my HP scanner stopped working. I called HP and they explained that their software had changed and no longer supported scanning with my printer! The HP representative, though, said that I could get their technical support if I signed up for their ink service (first 3 months trial was free) and that I could cancel at any time during the trial without any expense to me. So, my scanner issue was resolved and after 2 months, I cancelled the ink delivery service. A few days later, I am now unable to print, HP leaving a message that I cannot use their ink cartridges. So, the cartridges that they sent me are still in the box, I'm using ink cartridges that I originally purchased on Amazon ... but nevertheless, HP has somehow disabled my printer (it's on WiFi and the internet). Needless to say, I'm very disappointed with HP's action ... DisappointedJb

The way the HP Smart Ink service works is that when you install HP Instant Ink cartridges, none other than HP Instant Ink cartridges will work as long as the service is active.
Once you cancel the service you will need to have original HP cartridges for your printer in order to use it.
I wish I had better news to give you, but I do not.
It may be possible for your printer to return to normal if you have a region reset done over the phone. That is just a maybe.
