My HP ENVY 6255 is just brand new out of the box, although I've had it for two years (because we moved to a smaller house and the old printer is, fortunately, still working). I thought setup would be simple...I've done this before, but NO SO. After installing the cartridges, "Cartridge Problem" appeared on the screen, with directions to "remove and reinstall the indicated cartridge, making sure it is correctly installed. If this message continues to appear, replace the indicated cartridge."
Purchased and replaced the indicated cartridge, color. New message: install setup cartridge. Okay, did that, followed by the cartridge problem message. Tried another brand new color cartridge. Cartridge problem message, AGAIN.
Found a procedure on HP site to reset the printer, followed it. At the step with only the color cartridge in place, "Get the Most out of Your Printer" printed. Instructions to reinstall the black cartridge were followed. Then...back to "Cartridge Problem" AGAIN!
Is this an indication that this printed is an oversized door stop? ...that I've wasted $$ on new cartridges? Or, is there a solution to this?
Yes, changed the black cartridge, which does not seem to be a problem. Reinstalled the black cartridge that came with printer.
It is the color cartridges that are rejected. Changed the color cartridge (genuine HP), then reinstalled the setup cartridge when prompted to do so. I have tried three new color cartridges....Cartridge Problem appears when the printer is turned on.
