HP ENVY 5030 All-in-One Printer

After installing a HP black toner I've spent hours trying to get it to align. It doesn't seem to print a proper alignment page (only blue and black tones) and then won't recognise it, says alignment has failed and sets to a default. This is no good as it just cuts off the top half of the print on every line.

It's a genuine HP cartridge. I've turned it off for a while and tried again. I've taken the cartridge out and tried again and googled it to death.

Anyone else got any ideas please.

Thanks

Having only the top (or bottom) half of each line print is likely not an alignment issue, but rather related to an electrical connectivity issue.  I would suggest cleaning the electrical contacts of the printer cartridges as shown in the document here.  Go through the steps of Type 1 cartridges, see step 3 for the cleaning instructions.
