HP Envy Photo 6220 colour ink

Hello, I bought a genuine HP 303 colour ink cartridge for my HP Envy Photo 6220 printer.

The cartridge worked okay but my problem is that it didn't last very long. I installed the cartridge and printed off full colour A4 photos on glossy photo paper. I managed to print off eight photos when it said that the cartridge was empty.

Should I not be able to print off more photos than that before the cartridge becomes empty? I've read online that it says you can get 165 pages from a 303 colour ink cartridge but that is using 5% of the page or something?

My question is if you are printing off full colour photos on A4 photo glossy paper then how many pages should you expect to be able to print off with a 303 colour ink cartridge before the cartridge is empty (roughly)? I know it wouldn't be as much as 165 photos but I was hoping for more than eight.

It shouldn't be this way definitely. May be it was this one odd cartridge. Did this always happen with all cartridges?

Are you printing in best quality mode?

I do print in the best quality for printing colour photos.

I didn't keep track of how much ink my previous colour cartridges used but they lasted longer. 

It says you can print 165 pages from a colour cartridge but this is if you only use 5% of the page in colour? I print full colour A4 photos.

I will buy another colour cartridge and see if it lasts longer.

I bought another colour cartridge and this time I was able to print 16 photos. I changed the print quality from Best to Normal and was able to print A4 x 9, 10x8 x 5 and 6x4 x 2.

The 165 pages is if you use 5% colour so the 16 photos is probably  close to what you can expect to get from a 303 colour cartridge. I will know for the future now that if I buy a colour cartridge how many photos (roughly) I can expect to be able to print off.
