Hello. I have an HP Envy 4527 scanner printer. I just bought an HP F6U65AE 302 and an HP F6U66AE 302 Original Ink Cartridge a month ago. The yield is 150 pages, but I’ve printed less than 50 and both cartridges are out of ink already. I’ve printed regularly so I don’t think it’s just dried out. It simply started reporting low ink levels.
First the color pictures started coming out purple (I guess mostly the magenta coming out), then it ran out. Followed by the black shortly after reporting the same thing, and only printing a quarter of a page.
Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to deal with low ink levels after such minimal usage. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue with your HP Envy 4527 printer:
Check Cartridge Installation:
- Make sure the cartridges are properly installed. Remove and reinsert them to ensure a secure connection.
Perform a Print Head Cleaning:
- Use the printer’s maintenance options to perform a print head cleaning. This can help clear any blockages that may be affecting ink flow.
- Go to Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead on the printer's control panel or through the HP Smart app.
Print Quality Diagnostic:
- Print a diagnostic page to check the quality of the prints. This can help identify issues with the cartridges or print heads.
- You can find the option to print a test page in the printer settings.
Check for Software Issues:
- Ensure your printer software and drivers are up to date. Go to the HP support site to download the latest version.
Use HP Smart App:
- If you haven't already, download the HP Smart app. It can provide more detailed information about ink levels and troubleshooting tips.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Ensure your printer has the latest firmware. Check through the HP Smart app or the HP website.
Avoid Draft Mode:
- If you are printing in draft mode, it may use more ink than expected. Make sure to set your printer to normal or best quality for important prints.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hello Rachel, I tried updating the firmware but it’s already up to date. I ran the cartridge and print head cleaning at both levels. It still prints nothing. I restarted the printer multiple times too. Nothing.
