I am so frustrated with my printer!  All of the sudden it has the colors not lining up.  It seems to print the first page nicely, then the remaining pages are off.  I've also noticed that it's worse on thicker paper.   I've tried:

- Reseating the cartridges

- Hard Power Cycle

- Calibrating many times

- Updating Firmware

- Performing a cleaning cycle

- Printing on different paper settings

Nothing seems to make a difference!  Any one have ideas?

Have you tried a partial clean on the harddrive?

Thanks for the response!  I haven't and am actually not familiar with that.  Are there instructions on how to do that?

HP Recommended

You need to go to the pre-boot menu and perform a partial clean. Access the preboot menu by following the instructions in the firmware update readme found here https://support.hp.com/ca-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-color-laserjet-enterprise-m553-series/7087331

Thanks for the info!  I did that and it's still the same.  Thinking back on this, I had upgraded my firmware in an attempt to solve a different issue (which it did), but I think that's when this alignment problem started.  Do you think that's possible?  Is it even possible to downgrade the firmware to test it?

HP Recommended

It is possible to downgrade the firmware, but keep in mind that some subsystems like the DC controller are not downgraded and may cause issues if you downgrade. You will need a copy of the old firmware on a USB stick and then follow the instructions in the file I linked you to install the older firmware.

Gotcha.  Do you think it's plausible that the new firmware would be causing that problem?

If so, where can one find the old copies of firmware?

Thanks!
