I had a crease in the transfer belt of an M750 printer. I replaced the intermadiate transfer belt and very shortly after, the new transfer belt creased. Is it just a bad coincidence? Or is it something that has to do with the rester of the printer? The previous transfer belt riped apart and one of the rubber band attached to the transfer got stuck in one of the toner cartridge. Is the printer salvageable? Is there something I can do with it?

Hi @Vancouver604,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Creasing in the transfer belt of an HP M750 printer can be caused by a few different issues. Here’s a breakdown of potential causes and solutions.

Possible Causes:

  • Misalignment: If the transfer belt is not properly aligned, it can cause creasing. Ensure that the new belt is installed correctly and aligned according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Foreign Objects: The rubber band from the old transfer belt getting stuck in a toner cartridge could have caused damage or misalignment. Check for any foreign objects or debris in the printer and clean or remove them.
  • Defective Parts: It’s possible that the new transfer belt is defective. If the creasing occurs shortly after installation, it might be worth trying another new belt from a different batch or supplier.
  • Damage to Other Components: If the old transfer belt had issues, it’s possible that other components were damaged as well. Check for any signs of damage or wear on the rollers, gears, or other related parts.
  • Improper Toner Cartridges: Ensure that the toner cartridges are installed correctly and are not causing any mechanical issues. Check for any signs of damage or blockage.

Steps to Take:

  • Inspect the Printer: Thoroughly check the printer for any remaining debris or damage. Pay particular attention to areas where the transfer belt and toner cartridges interact.
  • Clean the Printer: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean any areas where toner or debris might be present. Avoid using harsh chemicals or excessive moisture.
  • Check Alignment: Make sure that the transfer belt and other components are aligned properly. Consult the printer’s manual for guidance on correct installation and alignment procedures.
  • Test Another Belt: If possible, try installing a different new transfer belt to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the belt itself or with another part of the printer.

Given that the printer has had several issues with parts like the transfer belt and toner cartridges, there might be underlying problems that need addressing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
