HP OfficeJet 5232 All-in-One Printer

Hi, although I use original HP cartridges, they are not recognized by my HP OfficeJet 5232. Since all the solutions from the HP website on this issue have not helped, I wonder if the problem will go away if I sign up with Instant Inc?

I would really like to keep my printer.

@Betzi, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Cartridge Recognition Issues on HP OfficeJet 5232!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP OfficeJet 5232 is not recognizing the original HP cartridges, there are several steps you can try to resolve this issue. Though signing up for HP Instant Ink can provide you with genuine HP replacement cartridges periodically, it may not directly solve the current recognition problem if something else is causing it. Here are some potential solutions:

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that you are using the correct cartridge model for your HP OfficeJet 5232. The compatible cartridges are typically listed in the printer manual or on the HP website.

Reinstall the Cartridges: Open the printer's access door and carefully remove the cartridges. Reinstall them, making sure they click securely into place.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, dirt or ink buildup can prevent proper contact between the cartridge and the printer. Gently clean the copper-colored contact on the cartridge with a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water.

Reset the Printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Replug it and turn it back on to see if the issue is resolved.

Update Printer Firmware: Make sure your printer's firmware is up-to-date by downloading and installing any updates from the HP website.

Check for Software Updates: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer, as outdated drivers can cause recognition errors.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
