My HP OfficeJet 8010 Series Printer is rejecting genuine HP Printer Cartridges.  I restarted the printer with the same error message.

Follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

1. Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer using the Power button.
  • Wait for a minute, then turn the printer back on.

2. Reinstall Cartridges

  • Open the front door and lift the cartridge access door.
  • Wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
  • Push in the tab to release the cartridge, then hold the cartridge by its sides and remove it from the printer.
  • Set the cartridge aside for recycling.
  • Remove the replacement cartridge from its package.
  • Pull the tab straight back to remove the plastic.
  • Hold the cartridge by the sides, and then twist the cap to remove it.
  • Install the replacement cartridge in its correct slot by matching the color on the cartridge with the color on the printhead.
  • Slide the cartridge into its slot and push it down until it snaps into place.

3. Check for Debris and Proper Installation

  • Ensure that there are no remnants of plastic or debris on the cartridges or in the cartridge slots.
  • Make sure cartridges are seated properly and securely in their respective slots.

4. Clean the Cartridge and Printer Contacts

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and in the printer using a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinstalling the cartridges.

5. Update Printer Firmware

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Firmware updates can resolve many issues related to cartridge recognition.

6. Verify Cartridge Authenticity

  • Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges. Authentic HP cartridges typically have security features that can be verified on the HP website.

7. Replace Faulty Cartridges
