HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g

When I am installing one cartuche individually after the other, starting with the magenta one, I get an error message after installing the last black one. Error message is about the magenta one saying the cartuche is damaged (showing a white cross  in a red circle and empty cartuche. Why should be the magenta cartuche damaged when it is recognized properly until installation of the last black cartuche?

Thanks for any help. I am getting nuts about this issue ...

Hi @Timo68 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand that you're experiencing an issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer not accepting the magenta ink cartridge and displaying an error message. There could be several reasons for this problem, and here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the magenta ink cartridge is compatible with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer. Using incompatible cartridges can lead to recognition issues.

Inspect Cartridge Contacts: Remove the magenta ink cartridge and check the electrical contacts on both the cartridge and the printer. Make sure they are clean and free from any dirt or residue. Gently clean them with a lint-free cloth if needed.

Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 1-2 minutes. Plug it back in, turn it on, and check if the issue persists.

Firmware Update: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Go to the HP support website, enter your printer

model, and download and install any available firmware updates.

Reinstall Cartridges: Try reinstalling the magenta ink cartridge. Ensure that it is securely and correctly placed in the designated slot.

Clean Printhead: It's possible that the printhead may be clogged. Many printers have a utility for cleaning the printhead. Check your printer's manual for instructions on how to run a printhead cleaning cycle.

Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the magenta ink cartridge for any physical damage. If you notice any issues, such as leaks or damage to the cartridge, it may need to be replaced.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
