Hi @Elaine007,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a common issue with HP printers where the ink cartridge gets stuck on the right side after removal. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

  • Power Cycle: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes, a simple reset can fix the problem.
  • Manual Movement: Gently try to move the ink cartridge carriage to the left using your hand. Be very careful not to force it or cause any damage to the printer.
  • Inspect for Obstructions: Even if you couldn't see any obstructions initially, it's worth double-checking for any debris or objects that might be blocking the movement of the carriage. Use a flashlight to get a better view inside the printer.
  • Clean the Carriage Rail: Dust and debris can sometimes accumulate on the carriage rail, hindering the movement of the ink cartridge. Clean the rail gently using a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Sometimes, a small piece of paper can get stuck inside the printer and prevent the carriage from moving. Open the printer's access door and check for any paper jams. If you find any, carefully remove them.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve various issues with printer functionality.

Be cautious when performing any maintenance on your printer to avoid causing further damage.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
