HP Officejet Pro 8600 Printers - Fixing Poor Print Quality
01-20-2021 02:51 PM

I've followed steps 1-13 from "HP Officejet Pro 8600 Printers - Fixing Poor Print Quality" (support.hp.com) and the poor quality has not improved. I just spent $100+ on all new 950-951 cartridges and was hoping that would solve the problem. Nope. Black lettering seems to print fine but anything in color does not. Test Pattern 2, from the Diagnostic Page, shows very little color with thin horizontal lines. Step 14 is to replace the printhead itself which may be beyond my skill level. Suggestions? or do I need professional repair services? Thanks in advance. Or buy a new printer and try to find someone who needs 950-951 cartridges?

Hi @GMatt4,
If you have already performed the steps from the document Fixing Poor Print Quality and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.
Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
Hope this helps!
